The Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center is located in the heart of the PA Wilds on Route 120 between Ridgway and Lock Haven. Inside you will find Cameron County inspired artwork from more than 80 artists. Take home a piece of the PA Wilds in the form of drawings, paintings, fresh jams, photographs, handmade jewelry, candles and one of a kind wooden bowls and utensils. The artists featured are from throughout the United States but all have one thing in common their love for Cameron County! Your first stop in this remote region should be the Wildlife Center/park office that showcases the work of several local artisans. Our seasoned staffers offer a variety of informational and public services to visitors on outdoor activities and wildlife watching experiences available within the Pennsylvania Wilds region. In addition to viewing work by local artisans, visitors can experience a multitude of outdoor experiences from eagle watching to kayaking the lake or a leisurely stroll down our newly constructed rails to trails. This gift shop offers patrons a Pennsylvania Wilds shopping experience. Featuring the work of local artisans, and offering a wide variety of Parker Dam gifts, patrons can browse the store and visit the attached visitor center. After shopping, enjoy spending the day or the night in this Civilian Conservation Corps era state park. As an organization the Elk County Council on the Arts (ECCOTA) offers experiences in the arts, provides educational opportunities and supports performers, musicians, artists and writers. Located in the heart of Elk County, the ECCOTA sales gallery and gift shop is the stage for the organization’s mission, showcasing the talent of local and regional artists in a wide range of media from beadwork to woodturning.

Elk in the wild are an unforgettable sight! The Elk Country Visitor Center is a brand new 8,420 square foot center outfitted with state of the art technology including a 4 dimensional (sight, sound, smell and touch) theatre with surround sound including interactive displays and elk viewing areas. During off peak season the Elk Country Visitor Center will operate an average of 40 hours per week but the hours of operation will vary dependent on current visitation patterns and would likely adjust to accommodate the majority of visitors to the region. August through October (during the peak of elk rut season) the center will have the most intensive program schedule. Take Route 555, turn left onto Winslow Hill Road then turn right onto Homestead Drive (it’s a new road).

Elkwood Arts is a licensed vocational and training center that is well known in the area for their hand-made products made from certified hard woods, grown and harvested in the PA Wilds. Each product is designed and assembled by professional cabinet makers/woodworkers then sanded and finished by our consumer employees. We were established in 1994 as a way to meet the needs of disabled adults by providing sheltered employment and job skills training. Elkwood Arts also offer custom laser engraving and professional had painting to meet your needs.

Stephanie Distler started the gallery in 2006 to showcase regional artists along with Distler’s fiber art, photography, jewelry and metalwork. Located on the 1st floor of the Historic Johnsonburg Community Center the space also includes her studio and available bead/jewelry supplies for artists. Classes are scheduled; events and features throughout the year are staples along with a continuous flow of PA wilds artists on display.

Our Shoppe and studio is located at the farm so that visitors can acquaint themselves with some of our beautiful fiber and finished products along with the animals that produce it. A variety of wools and mohair are available for the hand spinner and doll maker, as well as needle felting supplies and our own specialty yarns. This Shoppe is not just for fiber enthusiast; there are a variety of finished products for you to choose from. We feature knitted and woven shawls, scarves, sweaters, hats, purses, sheep and goat hides, seasonal creations and a variety of rugs – hand woven from wool roving, wool locks, cotton loppers, fiber and blanket salvage. We do custom chair seat weaving, caning and rushing. We also have a nice selection of unique gifts, created by local artisans, such as hand turned wooden bowls from PA hardwoods, jewelry, hammered aluminum ware, pottery and much more.

“New Treasurers in an Historic Setting” – located in the restored 1873 Kane Railroad depot building, ArtWorks is an Artists’ Cooperative selling original art and fine crafts alongside displays of local historic significance. Local art includes: watercolor, oil paintings, prints, photography, pottery, sculpture, fine woodworking, and beadwork from area artists and artisans. We also sell Kane Depot items and Holgate Toys – fine wooden toys made right here in the northern Alleghenies. We are open extra hours for special events.

Doug Firestone is a blacksmith and gunsmith who specializes in recreating 18th century and early 19th century items. He handcrafts a variety of hardware, such as door latches, hinges, door knockers and lamp hooks to name a few. He also crafts tools and utensils such as fireplace sets, fireplace cooking tools and gunsmithing tools, including 18th century flintlocks.

The Open House Shop opened in fall 2008 in a small cottage house and has since moved to our current 4000-square foot facility on Allegheny Boulevard. We joined the PA Wilds Artisan Development Initiative in 2011, both as a trail stop and as juried artisans.
